Inspired by Devon: Our Collection with Devon Wildlife Trust

Devon has always been a big part of who we are. From its wild coastlines and rolling countryside to the wildlife that makes its gardens, woodlands and wetlands home, there’s something magical about this corner of the world.

That’s why, for our latest limited-edition collection, we’ve teamed up with Devon Wildlife Trust to celebrate some of the wildlife and wild places that make Devon so unique.

And there’s an extra reason to love it: 12% from every sale in the collection goes directly to Devon Wildlife Trust, helping support its work to protect wildlife and the places they call home.

Who are Devon Wildlife Trust?

For 60 years, Devon Wildlife Trust has been working to protect the wildlife and wild places that make Devon special.

Established by a small group of volunteers, it is the only Devon-focused charity dedicated to protecting all wildlife across Devon, on land and at sea.

Today, Devon Wildlife Trust looks after 59 nature reserves across the county, creating and protecting spaces where wildlife can thrive and people can enjoy and connect with nature.

Their mission is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: if enough people care and act, we can bring nature back, and do it on a grand scale.

It’s a belief we’re very happy to get behind.

Why did we make this collection?

As a Devon-born brand, we’ve always been inspired by the natural world around us creating prints such as a coastal bloom print, based on the flowers that grow around our coastlines. This collection gave us the chance to turn that inspiration into something a little more tangible, going into more detail, while helping support the place we’re proud to call home.

We wanted to celebrate the wildlife you might spot while wandering through Devon, from tiny garden visitors to the animals making their homes across its countryside and coast.

The result is a collection inspired by the creatures, colours and landscapes of Devon, with plenty of character stitched into every detail.

And because we wanted the collection to make a difference beyond the designs themselves, 12% from each sale goes directly to Devon Wildlife Trust.

So every pair bought helps support the work of protecting Devon’s wildlife and wild places.

Where did we shoot the collection?

To bring the collection to life, we headed out into two of Devon Wildlife Trust’s 59 nature reserves: Bystock Pools and Emsworthy Mire.

Both places offered the perfect backdrop for a collection inspired by Devon’s natural world, giving us the chance to see some of the landscapes that help make the county so special.

There’s something wonderful about stepping outside and being surrounded by nature, whether you’re heading out for a proper adventure or simply taking a closer look at what’s happening around you. We believe strongly believe at Moshulu and the DWT that joy and nature are Intrinsically linked. That’s why we love this collection, and hope it bring you closer to nature and to joy.

Meet the wildlife behind the print

Look a little closer at our Wintercress and Lovage slippers and our pouches and you’ll find a colourful cast of Devon wildlife embroidered across them.

There are kingfishers, beavers, pine martins and hedgehogs, each chosen because they can be found at nature reserves cared for by Devon Wildlife Trust. The “Two Moors Pine Marten project” is restoring pine martens to the South West, reconnecting people with one of the UK’s most fascinating native mammals. Read more about their effort here.

From the flash of a kingfisher beside the water to a hedgehog exploring a garden after dark, these are the kinds of everyday wildlife encounters that remind us just how much nature is all around us.

Our floral print contains plant and flowers found in Devon’s green spaces. Some that are even native to the area. You will see, acorns, oak leaves, mushrooms, ivy, primroses (which is the flower of Devon) and many more… How many can you post?

What will the money go towards?

Our partnership with Devon Wildlife Trust is about more than creating a lovely collection. It’s about helping protect the wildlife and wild places that inspired it.

12% from every sale of the collection will go directly to Devon Wildlife Trust, supporting its ongoing work to protect Devon’s natural environment and help nature thrive.
