How to Care for Leather Shoes

A little care goes a long way. With just a few simple steps, you can help keep your favourite leather shoes looking lovely and feeling comfortable for years to come.

Brush away everyday dirt

After wearing your shoes, gently remove any dust or loose dirt with a soft brush or dry cloth. Keeping them clean helps protect the leather and keeps them looking their best.

Clean with care

If your shoes need a little more attention, use a leather cleaner that's suitable for the material. Apply it with a soft cloth using gentle circular motions, then wipe away any excess.

Nourish the leather

Leather naturally benefits from a little moisture. Applying a quality leather conditioner every so often helps keep it soft, supple and less likely to dry out or crack.

Let them dry naturally

If your shoes get caught in the rain, allow them to dry at room temperature. Avoid placing them near radiators or direct heat, as this can cause the leather to become stiff.

Store them properly

When you're not wearing your shoes, keep them somewhere cool and dry. Shoe trees or stuffing them with tissue paper can help them hold their shape between wears.

Give them a little extra protection

Before heading out, especially during wetter months, treat your shoes with a suitable protector to help guard against water and everyday stains.

Looking after your favourite pair

With regular care, your leather shoes will continue to look great and stay comfortable, ready for everything from everyday errands to weekend adventures.
