5 Devon Days Out to Put a Spring in Your Step
• Lucy Williams`
Whether you're planning a weekend adventure or simply looking for somewhere new to explore, Devon is full of beautiful places that are best enjoyed at a slower pace. From coastal strolls to colourful villages, here are five of our favourite days out.
1. Wander Around Clovelly
Step back in time as you stroll the cobbled streets of Clovelly. With whitewashed cottages, colourful flowers and breath taking sea views, it's a place where every corner feels like a postcard. Comfortable shoes are a must as you explore the steep lanes down to the harbour.
2. Take a Walk Along the South West Coast Path
Few walks rival the views along Devon's coastline. Whether you choose a gentle stretch or a longer hike, you'll be rewarded with dramatic cliffs, fresh sea air and plenty of places to stop for an ice cream or cream tea along the way.
3. Spend an Afternoon in Dartmouth
Independent shops, riverside cafés and colourful boats make Dartmouth a wonderful place to wander. Browse local boutiques, enjoy lunch by the water and take a ferry across the River Dart for a different view of the town.
4. Explore Dartmoor National Park
There's something magical about Dartmoor. Ancient tors, open moorland and peaceful woodland walks make it the perfect escape, whatever the season. Pack a picnic, bring your camera and enjoy a slower pace of life.
5. Finish with Fishcombe Cove
Tucked away near Brixham, Fishcombe Cove is a quieter spot for an afternoon by the sea. It's ideal for a peaceful walk before watching the sunset over the water.
Wherever the day takes you...
The best days out are often the simplest ones. Comfortable footwear, good company and somewhere beautiful to explore are all you really need. Wherever you're heading next, we hope you find plenty of reasons to stop, smile and enjoy the journey.
